![]() On May 18, 2007 Shocking event! By Graham C. Lim Yesterday night (May 17, 2007 Thursday), news flash all over the national television, riot at the Immigration Detention Center in Bicutan Detention Center, Taguig City. Detainee's Jesse James was shot by the jail guard and was rush to the hospital but didn't make it, that is "dead on arrival". Based on the news report, I was watching the Detention spokesman Police Col. Jose Victor Bantique of the Immigration Detention Center with jail warden Atty. Henry Tuban which both of them I know personally when I was arrested a year ago regarding my citizenship subject for deportation where I managed to know Jesse James and that he was shot to dead because he was intoxicated and try to attack the jail guard late evening. I was shocked while watching the late news that inmate Jesse James was shot at close range and who I know personally as my inmate partner during my detention at the Immigration Detention Center (IDC) last year in March of 2006. Jesse James is a Nigeria and was detained for more than 2 years at the detention center after earlier served twelve (12) years at the Bilibid Maximum Prison when I first met him. I was arrested due to my citizenship that I am a Chinese national based on what my political opponent who were close to the administration accused me that I am not a Filipino as a reason to deport me for a greater motive as a eased me out of the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) and destroy my credibility but were unsuccessful. Jesse full name is Jesse James Bronzil (not Bronsin as earlier stated), married to a Filipina (with no kid as earlier stated that he has 2 young kid). His reason for being detained was the cause of a murder charges against Jesse but stated he is innocent for his reason of self defense. Jesse James was a tall black guy at 6 feet and on my first day at the detention center, Jesse prepares my bed space where I had to sleep, he makes sure it was clean and the very first day I was very surprised he treated me so well and that experience of fear and anxiety set aside on my mind as a patient being out of danger. Through my ordeal being detained for 3 weeks, Jesse James and the rest in our cell being occupied by more or less around 10 of us, there were Iranian, South African, Taiwanese, Hong Kong national, Czech, India, and erstwhile Jesse became my good friend and partner and take care of my daily needs. I did informed former detainees who were with us during my detention and were out already, that Jesse James at age 49 years old was shot to dead by the jail guard, a foul play which has to be investigated or determined yet? Text messages which I received midnight from detainees that Jesse James' dead smell bad and I heard that the wife of Jesse James was crying for justice and is now interment at a funeral parlor somewhere in Pasay City of Metro Manila. Last two weeks ago, I sent my aid to visit Jesse to gave him some support and he was already telling my aid the he can no longer stand the system at the detention center, I relay my word of advised through my aid that he has to be patience and try to continue reading the bible which I gave to him before I was released by the decision of Court of Appeals last year. Really, my detention was really an opening eyes for me to include this event in writing my book "Struggle for Truth and Justice against conspiracy, black propaganda, political harassment, manipulation" with what happened in my life just because for the love of basketball that bring crises in the Philippines and this will be based on document gather from local, national and international body criticizing them how they deal in treating the situation inconsistently and unprofessional. I am hoping this book to be released early next year. My detention gave me a glimpse of new life in meeting with different kind of people, being with the criminal personality make my life worthwhile where experience can't be found anywhere just like that. Many foreign friends extended their full support to me while I was detained but some official in the international sport body doesn't believe that I was detained, these people were really ignorant and had no dignity to stand for in the truth and justice. My prayer and sympathy to the family of my late-comrade Jesse James Bronzil. May God bless his soul and may he rest in peace.
