Dear Senator Trillanes,

We are proud to announce the formation of Team Philippines of North America, an organization dedicated to the discovery of the best talent(s) with Filipino heritage in the US and Canada. We are a newly formed group that has been established on June 12, 2011. Despite our infancy, Team Philippines has participated in an international competition in Cleveland, Ohio in July 2011 and bagged the 3rd place in the 14 and under Boys division, July 2012 we bagged the Championship in the 14 and under Girls Division. We also joined the Global Cup in Orlando Florida August 2012 winning the championship in the High School Division and August 2013.

Dedicated to servicing Filipino, Filipino-America and Filipino-Canadian youth in this area, we are forming 10 youth teams this year ranging from 11 to 18 years of age, both boys and girls. Parts of our ongoing efforts are completed tryouts in Washington DC, New Jersey, New York Memphis Tennessee, Florida and future tryouts in Baltimore, Texas and Toronto. We also plan to go to the West Coast to expand to search for talents. Presently, the major events we are preparing for this year include international competition in Austria on April, Continental Cup in Ohio on June, Global Cup in Florida on August and World Youth Championship in Hawaii on December.

As we proceed with our efforts of discovering talents here in North America, we would like to interface with the Philippines-base national organization such as BAP in sharing the resources, including a plan for a Philippines tour for exhibition games and cultural exchange.

Recognizing your invaluable role in Philippine Basketball, coordinating our efforts and sharing resources will be beneficial to all of us in general. We foresee the huge potential of forging an alliance with BAP to widen and strengthen further both our organization’s missions and goals towards elevating Philippine Basketball in the international arena.

We are truly excited in this endeavor, and we look forward to a fruitful partnership with you and the BAP!
